Small Measures Series
Scaled-Down Mixed Media  Paintings

Small Mixed Media Collage

This series is named for the smaller size of the pieces, generally under the 10” width range.

These small artworks fit any space with a historical, rustic feel, and explore themes of life on the prairies and the Renaissance.

As with a lot of Steve’s work, this series is solely neither painting nor sculpture – but a unique blend of art and texture that draws you in.

This series features original acrylic paintings on interlocking blocks of recycled century-old barn wood from Alberta grain silos.

Carefully cropped imagery is applied directly onto wood in a mixed media collage alongside fragments of recycled wood.

The compact scale highlights the interplay between painted gesture and natural wood grain, creating subtle narratives where image and structure merge: an exploration of art and texture that invites the viewer into a closer, more personal experience.

Canadian Painting Rooted in Alberta History

By making use of recycled wood from hundred year old grain silos of the Alberta prairies, this series leans on the historical themes of the Renaissance as well as the history of the prairies in western Canada.
