This original painting by Alberta artist Steve R. Mitts reveals a winter scene unfolding as a narrative window, capturing multiple moments within a crisp, snowy landscape. A lone musician stands atop a stone bridge, her music drifting across the ice as life quietly carries on below.

Drawn to the cool winter palette, Steve returns to this seasonal series each year, embracing its stillness, light, and layered storytelling. His work combines contempory structure with 16th Century Renaissance influences. Using a meticulous layering of acrylic washes and gels, he achieves a textured, stained glass finish. This piece is created on 100-year-old reclaimed grain bin wood, making the material as much a part of the story as the painting itself. Measures 22 x 28 x 1 1/2 inches deep.
