This original landscape by Alberta artist Steve R. Mitts features a summer landscape with rich warm tones throughout and encapsulates the beauty of nature. In it, a lone boater enjoys the views from the water, content in the activity of the slow bobbing motion of his wooden vessel.
The composition uses a unique modular wood block design that creates a window-like perspective of rlling hills and expansive sky. Mitts combines contempory structure with 16th Century Renaissance influences. Using a meticulous layering of acrylic washes and gels, he achieves a textured, stained glass finish. This piece is created on 100-year-old reclaimed grain bin wood, making the material as much a part of the story as the painting itself. Measures 14 x 12 x 1 1/8 inches deep.
