Originally painted in 2003, Forest Concerto has been distilled and refined to bring its central musician into intimate focus. In this reimagined Steve R. Mitts original, the sprawling tableau is replaced by a concentrated meditation on presence. As music rises from her instrument, the surrounding light and texture form a serene stage, making the world feel as if it has paused to listen. It is a luminous moment of harmony where the figure and her environment become one.

Mitts combines contemporary structure with 16th Century Renaissance influences. Using a meticulous layering of acrylic washes and gels, he achieves a textured, stained glass finish. This piece is created on 100-year-old reclaimed grain bin wood, making the material as much a part of the story as the painting itself. Measures 22 1/2 x 27 x 1 3/4 inches deep.
