Large Measures Series
A Mixed Media Painting Exploring Art and Texture

This series features original acrylic paintings on interlocking blocks of recycled century-old barn wood from Alberta grain silos.

I isolate and crop my compositions on canvas and intertwine them and blend them with the painted and inter-placed woodblocks.

The resulting image flows into and through the natural wood surface and frame: an exploration of art and texture; a fusion of Renaissance imagery and the character of aged wood.

Large Acrylic Mixed Media Paintings

This series is named for the larger size of the pieces, generally in the 14” – 28” width range. These larger pieces fill your space with a historical, rustic feel, and explore themes of life on the prairies and the Renaissance.

As with a lot of Steve's work, this series is solely neither painting nor sculpture – but a unique blend of art and texture that draws you in.
